BillfoldPrivacy Policy
In short: Billfold needs no account and includes no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The assets and debts you record stay on your device and in your own private iCloud database. We, the developer, can't see them and don't collect them.
This policy explains how Billfold (钱夹 in Chinese, "the App") handles your information. The App is developed and operated by an independent developer ("we", "us").
1. Data you record in the App
Card names, balances, currencies, notes, balance history, due dates, holdings, and settings such as appearance and main currency:
- Are stored locally on your device.
- If your device is signed in to iCloud and the App is allowed to use iCloud, are synced to the private iCloud database in your Apple Account so they appear on your other devices. iCloud is operated by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. Only you can access your private database; we cannot read it.
- Are never sent to our servers.
2. Features that use the network
The features below make network requests. These requests never include your balances, amounts, card names, notes, device identifiers or account information. As with any network request, the recipient can see your IP address.
Automatic exchange rates
When your wallet has cards in a foreign currency, the App requests exchange rates directly from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev), a public exchange rate service, sending only currency codes (for example "USD" and "CNY"). Frankfurter is run by a third party under its own terms and privacy policy. You can also use rates you enter yourself.
Fund and stock prices
If you search for funds or stocks, or use automatic price updates, the App sends the following to our price service (api.trybillfold.app):
- The ticker or fund codes that need a price; or
- The search terms you type and the market you selected.
The price service runs on Cloudflare. It fetches prices and names on your behalf from public endpoints provided by Tencent Finance and Tiantian Fund (East Money), then returns the results. Those upstream sources see our server, not your IP address. We do not keep request logs. To respond faster, results for identical queries are cached on Cloudflare for a short time (about 1 minute for prices, up to the end of the day for fund net asset values, about 1 day for searches); the cache holds only market data and nothing about you. As our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare processes connection information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
You can turn off automatic price updates at any time in Settings > Quote auto-refresh.
3. Purchases
Billfold Pro subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Payment, billing and subscription details are processed by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy. The App only checks on your device whether a purchase is active in order to unlock features; we never receive your name, email or payment details.
4. Face ID and system permissions
The Face ID lock is verified by iOS. The App only learns whether verification succeeded and never has access to face data. The App does not access your contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera.
5. What we don't do
- We don't require you to sign up or sign in.
- We don't use third-party analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs.
- We don't track you across apps or websites, and we don't sell or share your data.
6. This website
trybillfold.app is a static website. It sets no cookies and loads no analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes connection information for visits to deliver and protect the site.
7. Deleting your data
- Deleting the App removes its data from that device.
- To also delete the data in iCloud, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage on your iPhone, find Billfold and delete its data. This can't be undone.
Because we don't hold your data, we can't view, export, restore or delete it for you.
8. Children
The App is designed for adults managing their personal finances. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the App's release notes.
